Rhode Island College Women’s Soccer Update #3

(2-3 Overall; 0-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is 2-3 overall and is 0-1 in the Little East Conference. In action last week, the Anchorwomen won at Johnson and Wales University, 3-0, on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The Anchorwomen then opened up LEC play with a, 6-1, loss at Eastern Connecticut State University on Sunday, Sept. 19.

 

Freshman midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has two goals, three assists, and leads the team with seven points.

 

Freshman forward Gina Calenda (Bristol, RI) has played in five games. She has three goals for six points.

 

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in four games, starting in all of them. She has a 2-2 record and 15 saves with a .882 save percentage and a 0.64 goals against average. She earned her 17th career shutout, increasing her RIC all-time record, in the win over Johnson & Wales. Carpentier played the first half against Eastern Connecticut, but was forced to come out of the game when she collided with one of the Warriors’ players.

 

Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has two goals and one assist for five points. Gavin scored the game-winning goal in the win over Coast Guard on Sept. 11.

 

Sophomore forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has three goals for six points.

 

Freshman midfielder Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) has played in five games, starting in three of them. She has one goal and two assists for four points. MacKinnon scored her first collegiate goal in the Anchorwomen’s loss to Eastern Connecticut.

 

Senior forward and captain Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has one assist for one point.

 

Freshman midfielder Michaela Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in five games, starting in two of them. She has two assists for two points.

 

Freshman midfielder Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI) has played in five games. She has one assist for one point.

 

Junior goalkeeper Alex Rothemich (Scituate, RI) has played in two games, starting one of them. She has an 0-1 record and ten saves with a .526 save percentage and a 4.55 goals against average.

 

Senior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has ten shots.

 

Freshman defender Emily Moore (Coventry, RI) has played in five games, starting in two of them. She has ten shots. 

 

Junior defender Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in five games, starting all of them.

 

Freshman defender Mallary Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in five games, starting all of them. She has two shots.

 

Freshman defender Kerry Donahue (Rehoboth, MA) has played in five games, starting all of them.

 

Freshman forward Sarah Hamilton (Cromwell, CT) has played in four games. She has four shots.

 

Freshman defender Marissa Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) has played in four games.

 

Freshman forward Ashley Teixeira (Warren, RI) has played in four games. She has two shots.

 

Freshman defender Jackie Coleman (North Plymouth, MA) has played in five games, starting in three of them. She has two shots.

 

Freshman midfielder Kristie Martins (Harrisville, RI) has played in two games.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play two games this week. The Anchorwomen will host Westfield State on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m., before traveling to Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
