NEVES FIRST CAREER SHUTOUT LEADS RIC
TO WIN OVER SALEM STATE

Providence, RIóRhode Island College freshman goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI) notched his first career shutout to help lead the Anchormen to a, 4-0, victory over Salem State College on Wednesday. With the win, RIC improves their record to 4-3, and over the .500 mark for the first time all season.

The Anchormen got off to a fast start and never looked back. In the fifth minute, sophomore midfielder Nic Rossi (North Kingstown, RI) was fed the ball from junior forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI). Rossi then launched a shot from the left side past the diving Salem State goalkeeper. The goal is Rossiís first in the young season.

Freshman defenseman James Nigrelli (Ashaway, RI) scored his first collegiate goal late in the first half, which was followed by another goal by Teixeira 59 seconds later.

RIC sealed the deal early in the second half when junior midfielder Chris Cunha (East Providence, RI) netted his second goal of the season. Sophomore forward Chris Childs (Cranston, RI) and junior defenseman Matt Borges (New Bedford, MA) also had assists for the Anchormen.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play host to Southern Maine on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
