Rhode Island College Womenís Tennis Update #4

(6-0 Overall; 3-0 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kelly Chartierís Anchorwomen are 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen had two matches last week and were victorious in both of them. RIC defeated Springfield College, 7-2, on Thursday, Sept. 23 and beat Castleton State, 8-1, on Sunday, Sept. 26.

 

RIC is currently in the midst of a 12-match winning streak against Little East Conference opposition. The Anchorwomen are 3-0 this year, were a perfect 5-0 last year and won four straight after dropping the conference opener vs. Plymouth State back on Sept. 14, 2002.

 

Senior captain Meghan Mooney (North Scituate, RI) is 3-3 (.500) at number two singles and 1-4 (.250) at number one doubles for 3.5 points on the season. She has been named the LECís Player of the Week once this season.

 

Sophomore Audrey Davis (Stroudsburg, PA) is 5-0 (1.000) at number three singles and is 5-0 (1.000) at number two doubles for a team-high 7.5 points on the season. She has been named the LECís Rookie of the Week twice this season.

 

Junior captain Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) is 3-3 (.500) at number one singles and 1-5 (.167) at number one doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

 

Senior captain Samantha Hedden (Rumford, RI) is 3-1 (.750) in singles and 0-1 in doubles for 3.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Kseniya Gurvich (Barrington, RI) is 5-1 (.833) in singles and 2-0 (1.000) in doubles for 6.0 points on the season. Gurvich has been named the LECís Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Sophomore Caitlin Morin (Westerly, RI) is 1-1 (.500) in singles and 5-0 (1.000) in doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

 

Sophomore Tara Marchant (North Scituate, RI) is 2-1 in singles (.667) and is 6-0 in doubles for 5.0 points on the season.

 

Freshman Michaela Grant (Smithfield, RI) is 1-0 (1.000) in singles and 5-0 (1.000) in doubles for 3.5 points on the season.

 

      Freshman Ashley Barry (Bristol, RI) is 1-0 (1.000) in singles and 1-0 (1.000) in doubles for 1.5 points on the season.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Bridgewater State College on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Roger Williams on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. and LEC opponent Plymouth State on Friday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
