Rhode Island College Volleyball Update #4

(5-11 Overall; 2-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Craig Letourneau’s Anchorwomen are 5-11 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen lost, 3-0, at Wesleyan (CT) on Tuesday, Sept. 21 before going 2-2 at the Bridgewater State College Invitational on Sept. 24-25.

 

RIC got off to a slow start at the invitational, dropping their first match to host Bridgewater, 3-0. The Anchorwomen then defeated Clark University, 3-2, before dropping its second match of the tournament to Plymouth State, 3-0. The Anchorwomen ended the weekend on a positive note, beating Rivier, 3-2.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) has played in 58 games in 16 matches. She has 118 kills (2.03/game), a .157 hitting percentage, seven assists (0.12/ game), 21 service aces (0.36/game), 46 digs (0.79/game), and 22 blocks (0.38/game). For her efforts, she was named to the Bridgewater Invitational All-Tournament team.

 

Sophomore middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) has played in 58 games in 16 matches. She has 133 kills (2.29/game), a .318 hitting percentage, and 75 blocks (1.29/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in 58 games in 16 matches. She has 96 kills (1.66/game), a .186 hitting percentage, 14 service aces (0.24/game) three assists (0.05/game) and 36 blocks (0.62/game). She has been named the Little East Conference’s Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Junior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 58 games in 16 matches. She has 134 kills (2.31/game), a .216 hitting percentage, 15 service aces (0.26/game), four assists (0.07/game), 93 digs (1.60/game), and nine blocks (0.24/game).

 

Junior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 58 games in 16 matches. She has 22 kills (0.38/game), a .103 hitting percentage, three assists (0.05/game), 19 service aces (0.33/game) and 132 digs (2.28/game).

 

Freshman setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) has played in 52 games in 16 matches. She has seven kills (0.13/game), a .034 hitting percentage, 280 assists (5.38/game), 11 service aces (0.21/game) and 29 digs (0.56/game).

 

Junior right side hitter Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) has played in 43 games in 12 matches. She has 29 kills (0.67/game), 12 assists (0.28/game), 25 digs (0.58/game), 16 blocks (0.37/game) and eight service aces (0.19/game).

 

Freshman setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) has played in 45 games in 16 matches. She has 143 assists (3.18/game), 17 service aces (0.38/game), 37 digs (0.82/game), and eight blocks (0.18/game).

 

Sophomore defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) has played in 45 games in 16 matches. She has 34 assists (0.76/game), 14 service aces (0.31/game) and 53 digs (1.18/game).

 

Sophomore outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 17 games in 11 matches. She has three kills (0.18/ game), a .000 hitting percentage, three service aces (0.18/game), four digs (0.24/game) and one block (0.06/game).

 

Freshman outside hitter Brooke Bryant (Nashua, NH) has played in 22 games in 11 matches. She has 16 kills (0.73/game), a -.019 hitting percentage, one service ace (0.05/game), 12 digs (0.55/game) and four blocks (0.18/game).

 

Freshman defensive specialist Pam Franzese (Carle Place, NY) has played in seven games in five matches. She has seven digs (1.00/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) has played in eight games in five matches. She has one kill (0.12/game), and one block (0.12/game).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host LEC opponent Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The Anchorwomen will then host the RIC Invitational on Oct. 1-2.
