CALENDA’S TWO GOALS LIFT RIC TO VICTORY

Providence, RI—Freshman Gina Calenda (Warren, RI) scored two goals, including the game-winner, to lead Rhode Island College to a, 4-0, victory over Green Mountain College in a non-conference tilt. The Anchorwomen have won four straight games and notched their third shutout during that timespan.

RIC improves to 7-4 overall, while the loss drops the Eagles to 2-8 on the season. Freshman Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI), who scored three times in Saturday’s, 7-0, win over UMass-Boston, scored once again this afternoon. Freshman Kristie Martins (Plymouth, MA) registered her first collegiate goal in the win.

Senior Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) and junior Alex Rothemich (Scituate, RI) split the game in net for RIC, with neither player making a save.

For GMC, freshman goalkeeper Claire Davis (Newark, DE) made eight stops in a losing effort.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play at Salve Regina on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m.
