Rhode Island College Volleyball Update #6

(10-13 Overall; 3-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Craig Letourneau’s Anchorwomen are 10-13 overall and 3-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC began the week with a Little East Conference match at Keene State on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and lost to the Owls, 3-1. The Anchorwomen hosted a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 9 and swept both matches they played, defeating Eastern Nazarene and Clark, both by a score of 3-1.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) has played in 85 games in 23 matches. She has 226 kills (2.66/game), a .214 hitting percentage, nine assists (0.11/ game), 27 service aces (0.32/game), 72 digs (0.85/game), and 28 blocks (0.33/game). She had 20 kills in the win over Eastern Nazarene. Geisler was named to the Bridgewater Invitational All-Tournament Team on Sept. 25.

 

Sophomore middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) has played in 86 games in 23 matches. She has 217 kills (2.52/game), a .326 hitting percentage, and 110 blocks (1.28/game). Miga was named the Little East's Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts. She has also been named to the Springfield College Invitational and RIC Invitational All-Tournament teams this season.

 

Junior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 86 games in 23 matches. She has 26 kills (0.30/game), a .058 hitting percentage, three assists (0.03/game), 33 service aces (0.38/game) and a team-high 224 digs (2.60/game). Wojciechowski was named to the RIC Invitational’s All-Tournament Team for her performance in three matches.

 

Junior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 85 games in 23 matches. She has 207 kills (2.44/game), a .219 hitting percentage, 27 service aces (0.32/game), five assists (0.06/game), 148 digs (1.74/game), and 23 blocks (0.27/game). Nix had 13 kills, 12 digs and three blocks in the win over Eastern Nazarene.

 

Freshman middle hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in 85 games in 23 matches. She has 157 kills (1.85/game), a .223 hitting percentage, 29 service aces (0.34/game) four assists (0.05/game) and 47 blocks (0.55/game). She has been named the Little East Conference’s Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Freshman setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) has played in 72 games in 23 matches. She has eight kills (0.11/game), a team-high 487 assists (6.76/game), 17 service aces (0.24/game) and 61 digs (0.85/game). Souza had 39 assists in the win over Clark. She has been named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Wee once on the season.

 

Junior right side hitter Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) has played in 70 games in 19 matches. She has 43 kills (0.61/game), 19 assists (0.27/game), 62 digs (0.89/game), 25 blocks (0.36/game) and 13 service aces (0.19/game).

 

Freshman setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) has played in 64 games in 23 matches. She has 238 assists (3.72/game), 30 service aces (0.47/game), 55 digs (0.86/game), and nine blocks (0.14/game). Rosa had 40 assists in the win over Eastern Nazarene.

 

Sophomore defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) has played in 73 games in 23 matches. She has 35 assists (0.48/game), 28 service aces (0.38/game) and 98 digs (1.34/game).

 

Sophomore outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 23 games in 15 matches. She has four kills (0.17/game), four service aces (0.17/game), eight digs (0.35/game) and one block (0.04/game).

 

Freshman outside hitter Brooke Bryant (Nashua, NH) has played in 31 games in 17 matches. She has 25 kills (0.81/game), a .041 hitting percentage, two service aces (0.06/game), 13 digs (0.42/game) and four blocks (0.13/game).

 

Freshman defensive specialist Pam Franzese (Carle Place, NY) has played in 11 games in eight matches. She has ten digs (0.91/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) has played in 15 games in ten matches. She has ten kills (0.67/game), and one block (0.07/game).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Western New England on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and take part in a quad-match with Roger Williams and Salve Regina at Johnson and Wales on Saturday, Oct. 16.
