Rhode Island College Womenís Soccer Update #6

(8-5 Overall; 1-3 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angelís team is 8-5 overall and 1-3 in the Little East Conference. In action last week, the Anchorwomen won at home, 4-0, against Green Mountain College on Tuesday, Oct. 5. RIC then went on the road and defeated Salve Regina by a score of, 2-0. The Anchorwomen faced LEC foe UMass-Dartmouth at home on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Anchorwomen dropped the match, 2-1, in overtime. RIC had a three-game, 360-minute shutout streak intact until the Corsairs netted their first goal in the 60st minute. 

 

Freshman forward Gina Calenda (Bristol, RI) has played in 13 games, starting five of them. She has three assists, and leads the team in goals with ten, and points, with 23. She had three goals and one assist last week.

 

Freshman midfielder Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI) has played in 12 games, starting three of them. She has four goals and one assist for nine points.

 

Freshman midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) has played in 11 games, starting nine of them. She has two goals and three assists for seven points.

 

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 11 games, starting nine of them. She has a 7-4 record and 31 saves with a .775 save percentage and a 0.97 goals against average.

 

Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in 12 games, starting nine of them. She has five goals and one assist for 11 points.

 

Junior goalkeeper Alex Rothemich (Scituate, RI) has played in five games, starting two of them. She has a 1-1 record, 12 saves and one shutout with a .571 save percentage and a 2.26 goals against average.

 

Sophomore forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) has played in 11 games, starting seven of them. She has four goals and one assist for nine points.

 

Freshman midfielder Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) has played in 13 games, starting eight of them. She has two goals and four assists for eight points. She had the game-winning goal in the win over Salve Regina.

 

Senior forward Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them. She has six assists for six points.

 

Freshman midfielder Michaela Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 13 games, starting seven of them. She has two goals and two assists for four points. She recorded RICís lone goal in the loss to UMass-Dartmouth.

 

Senior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them. She has one assist for one point.

 

Freshman defender Emily Moore (Coventry, RI) has played in 12 games, starting five of them. She has 18 shots. 

 

Junior defender Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 13 games, starting 12 of them.

 

Freshman defender Mallary Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 13 games, starting 12 of them. She has two shots.

 

Freshman defender Kerry Donahue (Rehoboth, MA) has played in ten games, starting nine of them.

 

Freshman forward Sarah Hamilton (Cromwell, CT) has played in nine games, starting two of them. She has one goal for two points.

 

Freshman defender Marissa Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) has played in eight games, starting one of them.

 

Freshman forward Ashley Teixeira (Warren, RI) has played in eight games. She has two goals for four points.

 

Freshman defender Jackie Coleman (North Plymouth, MA) has played in 13 games, starting ten of them. She has one goal and one assist for three points.

 

Freshman midfielder Kristie Martins (Harrisville, RI) has played in five games, starting one of them. She scored her first collegiate goal in the win over Green Mountain College.

 

Senior defender Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) has played in three games.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play two games this week. The Anchorwomen will host Bridgewater State College on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 3:30 p.m., before closing out the week on the road at LEC rival Western Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m.
