RIC SWEEPS WNEC, 3-0

Providence, RIóRhode Island College won its third straight match with a convincing, 3-0, win over visiting Western New England College in collegiate womenís volleyball action. The Anchorwomen improve to 11-13 overall and have won seven of their last nine matches.

 

RIC took game one, 30-16, decisively, then held off the Golden Bears in games two and three, 30-25 and 30-23, to earn the victory.

 

RIC had three players reach double figures in kills, led by sophomore Kari Geislerís (Deerfield, NH) 19. Sophomore Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) and junior Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) chipped in with 14 and 13, respectively. Freshman setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) had 44 helpers and Nix led the club with 12 digs.

 

Sophomore Amy Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) led WNEC with 11 kills. Senior Mandee Signor (East Haven, CT) had 28 assists.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at a tri-match, hosted by Johnson and Wales University, with Roger Williams and Salve Regina on Saturday, Oct. 16.
