Rhode Island College Volleyball Update #7

(13-14 Overall; 3-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Craig Letourneau’s Anchorwomen are 13-14 overall and 3-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC began the week at home with a, 3-0, win over Western New England College on Tuesday, Oct. 12. The Anchorwomen then traveled to Johnson & Wales on Saturday, Oct. 16, going 2-1 in a quad-match. RIC defeated Johnson & Wales, 3-2, and Salve Regina, 3-0, but couldn’t complete the sweep against Roger Williams, dropping the match, 3-2.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) has played in 101 games in 27 matches. She has 277 kills (2.74/game), a .224 hitting percentage, 11 assists (0.11/ game), 29 service aces (0.29/game), 79 digs (0.78/game), and 33 blocks (0.33/game). She was named to the Bridgewater State College Invitational All-Tournament team on Sept. 25.

 

Sophomore middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) has played in 102 games in 27 matches. She has 269 kills (2.64/game), a .332 hitting percentage, and 132 blocks (1.29/game). Miga was been named to both the Springfield and RIC Invitational’s All-Tournament teams. Miga was named the Little East Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week once this season.

 

Junior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 102 games in 27 matches. She has 31 kills (0.30/game), a .073 hitting percentage, three assists (0.03/game), 35 service aces (0.34/game) and a team-high 276 digs (2.71/game). Wojciechowski was named to the RIC Invitational’s All-Tournament Team.

 

Junior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 101 games in 27 matches. She has 257 kills (2.54/game), a .236 hitting percentage, 33 service aces (0.33/game), seven assists (0.07/game), 188 digs (1.86/game), and 34 blocks (0.34/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in 101 games in 27 matches. She has 189 kills (1.87/game), a .232 hitting percentage, 37 service aces (0.37/game) six assists (0.06/game) and 57 blocks (0.56/game). She has been named the Little East Conference’s Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Freshman setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) has played in 78 games in 26 matches. She has eight kills (0.10/game), a team-high 531 assists (6.81/game), 18 service aces (0.23/game) and 65 digs (0.83/game). She has been named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Wee once on the season.

 

Junior right side hitter Sara Chamberland (Coventry, RI) has played in 86 games in 23 matches. She has 54 kills (0.63/game), 27 assists (0.31/game), 87 digs (1.01/game), 30 blocks (0.35/game) and 14 service aces (0.16/game).

 

Freshman setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) has played in 78 games in 27 matches. She has 361 assists (4.63/game), 39 service aces (0.50/game), 70 digs (0.90/game), and 11 blocks (0.14/game). She had 123 assists in four matches this week.

 

Sophomore defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) has played in 89 games in 27 matches. She has 35 assists (0.39/game), 34 service aces (0.38/game) and 129 digs (1.45/game).

 

Sophomore outside hitter Julie Seitsinger (North Kingstown, RI) has played in 26 games in 18 matches. She has five kills (0.19/game), four service aces (0.15/game), ten digs (0.38/game) and two blocks (0.08/game).

 

Freshman outside hitter Brooke Bryant (Nashua, NH) has played in 34 games in 19 matches. She has 28 kills (0.82/game), a .024 hitting percentage, two service aces (0.06/game), 17 digs (0.50/game) and five blocks (0.15/game).

 

Freshman defensive specialist Pam Franzese (Carle Place, NY) has played in 12 games in nine matches. She has ten digs (0.91/game).

 

Freshman middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) has played in 17 games in 12 matches. She has ten kills (0.59/game), one service ace (0.06/game), one dig (0.06/game) and one block (0.07/game).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will be at home all week, first hosting Suffolk on Tues., Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. Then the Anchorwomen will host Endicott College on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. before hosting the Little East Round Robin on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.
