Rhode Island College Womenís Soccer Update #7

(8-7 Overall; 1-4 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angelís team is 8-7 overall and 1-4 in the Little East Conference. In action last week, the Anchorwomen lost at home, 2-0, against Bridgewater State on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The Anchorwomen dropped their second match of the week, 4-0, when they went on the road and faced LEC foe Western Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 16.

 

Freshman forward Gina Calenda (Bristol, RI) has played in 15 games, starting seven of them. She has three assists, and leads the team in goals with ten, and points, with 23. She has been named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI) has played in 12 games, starting three of them. She has four goals and one assist for nine points. Cardinal has been named the Little East Conferenceís Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Freshman midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) has played in 13 games, starting ten of them. She has two goals and three assists for seven points.

 

Senior goalkeeper Melissa Carpentier (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 13 games, starting 11 of them. She has a 7-6 record and 34 saves with a .693 save percentage and a 1.15 goals against average.

 

Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) has played in 14 games, starting 11 of them. She has five goals and one assist for 11 points.

 

Junior goalkeeper Alex Rothemich (Scituate, RI) has played in five games, starting two of them. She has a 1-1 record, 12 saves and one shutout with a .571 save percentage and a 2.26 goals against average.

 

Sophomore forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) has played in 12 games, starting seven of them. She has four goals and one assist for nine points.

 

Freshman midfielder Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) has played in 15 games, starting ten of them. She has two goals and four assists for eight points.

 

Senior forward Elena Sanborn (North Scituate, RI) has played in 11 games, starting ten of them. She has a team-high six assists for six points.

 

Freshman midfielder Michaela Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 15 games, starting nine of them. She has two goals and two assists for four points.

 

Senior forward Lauren Tomasso (Cranston, RI) has played in 13 games, starting 12 of them. She has one assist for one point.

 

Freshman defender Emily Moore (Coventry, RI) has played in 14 games, starting six of them. She has 20 shots. 

 

Junior defender Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 15 games, starting 14 of them.

 

Freshman defender Mallary Bileau (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 15 games, starting 14 of them. She has two shots.

 

Freshman defender Kerry Donahue (Rehoboth, MA) has played in 12 games, starting ten of them.

 

Freshman forward Sarah Hamilton (Cromwell, CT) has played in nine games, starting two of them. She has one goal for two points.

 

Freshman defender Marissa Kielbasinski (Windsor, CT) has played in ten games, starting three of them.

 

Freshman forward Ashley Teixeira (Warren, RI) has played in ten games. She has two goals for four points.

 

Freshman defender Jackie Coleman (North Plymouth, MA) has played in 15 games, starting 12 of them. She has one goal and one assist for three points.

 

Freshman midfielder Kristie Martins (Harrisville, RI) has played in five games, starting one of them.

 

Senior defender Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) has played in four games.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play two games this week. The Anchorwomen will host Wesleyan on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m., and will close out the week at home against LEC rival Keene State on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m.
