RIC SWEEPS SUFFOLK, 3-0

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College defeated Suffolk University, 3-0, in collegiate women’s volleyball action on Tuesday evening. RIC started out sluggish, falling behind early in game one, but came back to win 30-23. The Anchorwomen got on a roll and took games two and three easily, winning 30-19 and 30-20.

 

With the win, RIC evens its record at 14-14 overall, reaching the .500 mark for the first time this fall. The Anchorwomen started out the season 0-7, but have gone 14-7 (.667) since Sept. 11. RIC has won six of its last seven matches.

 

Junior Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) led the way with 11 kills and seven digs for the Anchorwomen. Sophomore Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) had nine kills. Freshman Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) and sophomore Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) each had seven service aces.

 

Freshman Noel Moran (Acushnet, MA) had five kills and eight digs in a losing effort for the Rams.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Endicott on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
