GULLS STORM BACK TO DEFEAT ANCHORWOMEN, 3-2

Providence, RI—Despite trailing two games to none, Endicott College won the next three in a row to defeat Rhode Island College, 3-2, in collegiate women’s volleyball action on Thursday night. RIC got off to a great start, winning game one, 30-25, and game two, 31-29. Endicott was up to the challenge as they took game three, 30-24, game four, 30-25 and game five, 15-13, to earn the victory.

 

Endicott junior Killeen Ross (Ballston Lake, NY) led the way for the Gulls with 21 kills and 14 digs. Senior Morgan Tranquist (Hamden, CT) chipped in with 14 kills, eight digs and seven assists. Senior Katie Lorinovich (Hampstead, NH) led EC with 26 kills. Freshman Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA) posted a match-high 45 assists.

 

RIC was led offensively by junior Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) who had 22 kills and 23 digs. Sophomore Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) had 12 kills and 11 blocks. Sophomore Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) and junior Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) had 24 digs apiece.

 

Endicott improves to 22-4 overall and remains unbeaten in the New England region, posting a 20-0 mark against region opponents. RIC falls to 14-15 on the season.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host a Little East Conference Round Robin match on Saturday, Oct. 23. RIC will face Plymouth State at 1 p.m. and Southern Maine at 3 p.m.
