Rhode Island College Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Update #1

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team opened the 2005 season at the Snowflake Classic, hosted by Northeastern on Saturday, Mar. 26. The meet was an individual meet and no team scores were kept.

 

Junior Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) placed third in the 400 meters and 11th in the 1,500 meters with times of 50.21 and 4:19.44, respectively.

 

Sophomore Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6’00.00”.

 

Freshman Jordan Wright (Brookline, MA) placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 41’07.75”, as well as 15th in the 200 meters with a time of 27.01.

 

Freshman Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed 18th in the 400 meters with a time of 55.22.

 

Sophomore Matt Goroza (West Warwick, RI) placed 19th in the 400 meters with a time of 57.38.

 

Junior Tim Goodwin (Warwick, RI) placed 19th in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.46.

 

Senior Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) placed 23rd in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:39.26.

 

Sophomore Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed seventh in the 5,000 meters with a time 16:08.31.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host its annual invitational on Saturday, Apr. 2.
