Julio Andrade Named Little East Player of the Week

Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior Julio Andrade (Cranston, RI) was named the Little East Conference Menís Tennis Player of the Week for his performance in five matches.


Andrade went 5-0 at number three singles in a 2-3 week for the Anchormen. For the season, he is 5-2 (.714) at number three singles and 2-5 (.286) at number one doubles for a team-high 6.0 points on the season.


He is an elementary education major with a concentration in social studies and a 1999 graduate of Cranston High School East.


Head Coach Joe Testaís team is 0-2 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen played five matches last week, going 2-3. RIC lost to Nichols on the road, 8-1, on Monday, Apr. 4, before defeating Salem State in its home LEC opener, 7-2, on Tuesday, Apr. 5. The Anchormen lost to Curry at home, 7-2, on Thursday, Apr. 7, but bounced right back with a home, 9-0, shutout over Thomas on Saturday, Apr. 9. RIC closed out its week at home on Sunday, Apr. 10, and lost to Roger Williams, 7-2.
