RIC TAKES TWO FROM SALVE REGINA
Eichler Throws A No-Hitter In Game One

Providence, RIóRhode Island College swept a doubleheader from Salve Regina, 8-0 (5 inn.) and 4-0, on Thursday afternoon. With the wins, RIC improves to 11-11, while Salve Regina drops to 9-17.

In game one, RIC freshman Heidi Eichler (Madison, CT) pitched her first career no-hitter in a mercy-rule shortened five-inning contest. The last RIC no-hitter was thrown during the 2003 season. The win evens Eichlerís record at 6-6 on the year. Freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford, CT) went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead RICís offense. Seahawk senior pitcher Erin Larrivee (Somerset, MA) was given the loss as she went four innings, giving up six earned runs.

RIC earned another shutout in game two as freshman Katie Sayball (Millford, CT) and sophomore Nichole Riley (North Providence, RI) combined to give up just three hits. Sayball earned her first collegiate win, while Riley picked up her first save of the season. Leading the Anchorwomen at the plate was sophomore catcher Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) who knocked in two runs with a double in the bottom of the third inning. Seahawk freshman Katie Thayer (Abington, MA) pitched five innings, giving up two earned runs in the loss.

Up next, RIC travels to UMass Boston for a double header on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 1 pm.
