Rhode Island College Shakes Off Game One Loss To Win Game Two, 11-4

Providence, RIóRhode Island College and UMass Boston split a doubleheader in a battle of two Little East Conference rivals. UMB held off a RIC rally in the bottom of the ninth to win the first game, 7-6. The Anchormen stormed back in game two, defeating the Beacons, 11-4. RIC is now 10-10 overall and 3-3 in the Little East, while UMB is 12-11 overall and 2-3 in the LEC.

In game one, the Beacons scored four runs off of RIC senior starting pitcher James Milano (Johnston, RI) to take a four-run lead through three innings. With two away, senior pinch hitter Chris Higgins (Swansea, MA) grounded out with the tying run on third as the Beacons escaped with the win. UMB sophomore starting pitcher Evan Tardugno (Methuen, MA) hurled a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing four earned runs to even his record at 2-2. Milano took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season.

Freshman pitcher Eric Thibault (Somerset, MA) hurled a complete game with three strikeouts to even his record at 2-2.
