Rhode Island College Softball Update #4

(18-12 Overall; 7-1 in the Little East)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Maria Morin’s team is 18-12 overall and 7-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen had four doubleheaders scheduled last week, however two of them were postponed due to inclement weather. RIC went 4-0 on the week, taking two games from LEC rival UMass Dartmouth (5-0, 8-3) on Tuesday, Apr. 19, before going on the road and sweeping Westfield State (3-0, 6-0) on Thursday, Apr. 21.

 

Sophomore pitcher Nicole Riley (North Providence, RI) has played in 17 games, starting 13 of them. She is batting .200 with seven hits, one triple, seven walks, one stolen base six runs scored and four RBI. Riley owns a .257 slugging percentage, a .333 on base percentage and a .880 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in 18 games, starting 12 of them. She owns an 8-4 record with one save. She has a team-best 2.03 ERA and has pitched four complete games. In a team-high 82.2 innings pitched, she has struck out a team-high 77 batters.

 

Freshman first baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford, CT) has played in 29 games, starting 28 of them. She is batting a team-high .418 with a team-high 38 hits, 25 runs scored, 11 walks, four triples and three home runs along with six doubles and 13 RBI. Lotti owns a .670 slugging percentage, a .480 on base percentage and a .975 fielding percentage. She has named the Little East Rookie of the Week once on the season.

 

Freshman pitcher Heidi Eichler (Madison, CT) has played in nine games, starting six of them. She is batting .273 with three hits, one double, one walk and two runs scored. Eichler owns a .364 slugging percentage, a .333 on base percentage and a .958 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in 18 games, starting 15 of them. She owns a 9-7 record and a save with a 2.28 ERA and has eight complete games. In 80.0 innings pitched, she has struck out 76 batters.

 

Senior third baseman Amy Machado (Newport, RI) has played in 29 games, starting 28 of them. She is batting .315 with 29 hits, nine doubles, two triples, ten runs scored and a team-high 16 RBI. Machado owns a .457 slugging percentage, a .340 on-base percentage and a .920 fielding percentage.

 

Junior outfielder Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) has played in 27 games, starting all of them. She is batting .243 with 17 hits, one double, two stolen bases, eight runs scored, six RBI and two walks. Benevides owns a .257 slugging percentage, a .284 on base percentage and a .972 fielding percentage. Benevides had four RBI in RIC’s wins over UMass Dartmouth on Apr. 19.

 

Sophomore shortstop/outfielder Adora Burke (Naples, ME) has played in 27 games, starting 22 of them. She is batting .323 with 20 hits, three doubles, one triple, nine walks, ten runs scored and eight RBI. Burke owns a .403 slugging percentage and a .408 on base percentage along with a .892 fielding percentage.

 

Junior outfielder Megan Ponte (Wakefield, RI) has played in 25 games, starting 24 of them. She is batting .241 with 14 hits, one triple, one home run, three walks, one stolen base, nine runs scored and three RBI. Ponte owns a .328 slugging percentage, a .313 on-base percentage and a .963 fielding percentage.

 

Junior outfielder Andree Sitnik (Lincoln, RI) has played in 22 games, starting 15 of them. She is batting .219 with seven hits, one double, one RBI, eight runs scored and three walks. Sitnik owns a .250 slugging percentage, a .286 on-base percentage and a .813 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore catcher/designated player Kristyn Alexander (East Wareham, MA) has played in 29 games, starting 25 of them. She is batting .266 with 21 hits, three doubles, three walks, three runs scored and six RBI. Alexander owns a .304 slugging percentage, a .301 on-base percentage and a .981 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore infielder Crystal O’Connell (Somerset, MA) has played in 15 games, starting 11 of them. She is batting .125 with three hits, three runs scored, three walks, two stolen bases and two RBI. O’Connell owns a .125 slugging percentage, a .250 on-base percentage and a .920 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore infielder Katelyn Labelle (South Dartmouth, MA) has played in 16 games, starting 11 of them. She is batting .190 with four hits, one double, four walks, five runs scored and one RBI. Labelle owns a .238 slugging percentage, a .320 on-base percentage and a .951 fielding percentage.

 

Sophomore infielder Casie Lyons (Hudson, MA) has played in 22 games, starting 16 of them. She is batting .121 with four hits, three walks and five runs scored. Lyons owns a .121 slugging percentage, a .194 on-base percentage and a .927 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman catcher Krystal Bilek (Fitchburg, MA) has played in 14 games, starting nine of them. She is batting .297 with 11 hits, one home run, two doubles, two walks, three runs scored and 11 RBI. Bilek owns a .432 slugging percentage, a .357 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman catcher/infielder Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) has played in 20 games, starting 17 of them. She is batting .375 with 18 hits, five doubles, five RBI and eight runs scored. Rosa owns a .479 slugging percentage, a .388 on base percentage and a .976 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman pitcher/infielder Katie Sayball (Milford, CT) has played in 17 games, starting 11 of them. She is batting .118 with two hits, two walks and one run scored. Sayball owns a .118 slugging percentage, a .211 on base percentage and a .978 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in 13 games, starting three of them. She owns a 1-1 record with a 2.71 ERA. In 31.0 innings pitched, she has struck out 14 batters.

 

Freshman designated player/pitcher Kayla Baranski (Cumberland, RI) has played in 14 games, starting three of them. She is batting .150 with three hits, two walks and two RBI.. Baranski owns a .167 slugging percentage, a .238 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage. On the mound, she has appeared in one game.

 

Freshman outfielder Rachelle Edgar (Waterford, CT) has played in 15 games, starting eight of them. She is hitting .211 with four hits, one stolen base and three runs scored. Edgar owns a .211 slugging percentage, a .250 on base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage.

 

Freshman outfielder Amy Huston (Wakefield, RI) has played in 13 games. She has one walk and four runs scored.

 

Freshman second baseman/shortstop Katie Chadwick (Wakefield, RI) has played in nine games, starting three of them.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are scheduled to play three doubleheaders this week, and possibly a fourth. RIC will open up the week on the road against non-conference opponent Worcester State on Wednesday, Apr. 27 at 3:30 p.m. The Anchorwomen will then host LEC foe Plymouth State on Friday, Apr. 29 at 3:30 p.m., before hosting LEC rival Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 1 p.m. The Anchorwomen will make-up last Sunday’s rainout against Western Connecticut at a date and time to be determined.
