BEARS STORM BACK TO DEFEAT RIC, 73-63

            Providence, RIóRhode Island College squandered a ten-point half-time lead as Bridgewater State College outscored the Anchorwomen, 47-27, in the second half and earned the victory, 73-63. RIC falls to 1-1, while the Bears improve to 2-1 on the season.

 

BSC senior Jessica Worden (Rockland, MA) scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with three assists, two blocks and two steals in the win. Sophomore Catie Furtado (Taunton, MA) and junior Samantha Curry (Braintree, MA) each had 17 points to help the Bearsí cause. Furtado added nine boards, five assists and one steal and made several key baskets in BSCís run to overtake the Anchorwomen.

 

Sophomore Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) paced RICís attack with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Rosen added four steals and two assists. Junior Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) had 13 points, four assists, three steals and a block.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at Connecticut College on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.
