Rhode Island College Menís Basketball Update #3

(3-3 Overall, 0-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Jack Perriís team is 3-3 overall and is 0-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen defeated Fitchburg State College, 96-70, on Monday, Nov. 29, and Roger Williams, 84-80, in double-overtime on Thursday, Dec. 2. The Anchormen were riding a three-game winning streak before dropping their LEC opener, 84-81, at Plymouth State on Saturday, Dec. 4.

 

Sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) has played in six games, starting all of them. He is averaging 3.7 rebounds along with a team-high 18.3 points, 2.3 steals and 6.5 assists per game. He dropped a team-high 19 points and dished out a game-high eight assists in RICís, 84-80, overtime victory vs. Roger Williams. He also tied a team-high, scoring 17 points in the Anchormenís, 84-81, loss to Plymouth State.

 

Senior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) has played in six games, starting all of them. He is averaging 16.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He posted 16 points while going 5-5 at the free throw line in RICís, 84-80, overtime victory vs. Roger Williams.

 

Sophomore guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) has played in six games, starting all of them. He is averaging 13.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He notched a career-high 24 points in RICís, 96-70, victory over Fitchburg State.

 

Senior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has played in six games, starting all of them. He is averaging 11.2 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game. He averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Anchormenís three games last week. Harris also pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds in RICís, 84-80, overtime victory over Roger Williams. For his efforts last week, Harris was named to the LEC Honor Roll.

 

Sophomore forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) has played in six games, starting all of them. He is averaging 5.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and a team-high 0.8 blocks per game.

 

Junior guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI) has played in six games. He is averaging 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

 

Junior guard Jared Starnino (Providence, RI) has played in four games. He is averaging 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He registered career-highs of ten points and six rebounds in RICís, 84-80, loss to Plymouth State.

 

Sophomore guard Amde Tegbaru (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in four games. He is averaging 1.0 point and 1.0 rebound per game.

 

Sophomore forward Anthony Pierlioni (Plainville, CT) has played in six games. He is averaging 2.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) has played in six games. He is averaging 6.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He put down a career-high 19 points in RICís, 96-70, victory over Fitchburg State.

 

Freshman guard Kofoworola Edmonds (Providence, RI) has played in six games. He is averaging 4.0 points and 1.5 assists per game.

 

Freshman guard Benjy Nichols (New Haven, CT) has played in six games. He is averaging 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play three games on the road this week. RIC will travel to Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, Dec. 7 for a 7 p.m. tilt, then the Anchormen will play at Salve Regina on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. before taking on LEC foe Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. The Anchormen will return home on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at 7 p.m. when they host Bridgewater State.
