Kari Geisler Named Little East Player of the Week

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) was named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in three games.

 

Geisler helped lead the Anchorwomen to a 2-1 week by posting a double-double in scoring and rebounding. She averaged 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Geisler had two double-doubles last week, with 13 points and 12 rebounds in a, 71-57, win over Johnson and Wales on Dec. 7 and a game-high 21 points with 13 boards in a, 66-58, win over Westfield State on Dec. 9.

 

For the season, she is averaging 11.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. She has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll once this season.

 

Geisler is a physical education/health major and a 2003 graduate of Pinkerton Academy.

 

Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team is 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC went 1-2 last week. The Anchorwomen snapped a four-game losing streak with a, 71-57, win over Johnson and Wales on Dec. 7. RIC followed up the win over JWU with a, 66-58, victory over Westfield State on Dec. 9. The Anchorwomen remain winless in the LEC after losing a heart-breaker, 61-59, at Eastern Connecticut on Dec. 11.
