Rhode Island College Names
Menís Indoor Track & Field Captains

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College has named senior Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) and juniors Manny Karngar (Providence, RI) and Tim Goodwin (Warwick, RI) as the menís indoor track and field captains for the 2004-05 season.

 

Piette, physical education/health major and a 2000 graduate of Woonsocket School, placed fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.30 meters at the Harvard Invitational this past Saturday.

 

Karngar, a finance major and a 2002 graduate of Shea High School, placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 50.04 at the Harvard Invitational this past Saturday. He placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.68 at the Alden Invitational on Dec. 4.

 

Goodwin, a junior communications major and a 2001 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School, has yet to compete this season for the Anchormen. As a sophomore in 2003-04, he earned All-Alliance/Little East honors as part of the 4x800 meter relay team, which placed first with a school-record time of 8:27.78 at the LEC/MASCAC Alliance Championships. He finished 16th in the 1,000 meters with a season-best time of 2:44.65 at the Tufts Invitational. He placed third in the 3,000 meters with a season-best time of 9:26.06 at the Southern Maine Invitational. Goodwin finished 32nd in the 1,500 meters with a season-best time of 4:28.51 at the Tufts Invitational.

 

Head Coach Kevin Jacksonís team opened the season at the Alden Invitational, hosted by Brown on Dec. 4 and then competed at the Harvard Invitational on Dec. 11. Both meets were individual meets and did not record team scores.
