Womenís Basketball Update #5

(3-7 Overall, 0-2 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Spencer Manningís team is 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the Little East Conference. RIC went 0-2 last week, losing both of their contests at the Naismith Classic, hosted by Springfield College, on Jan. 2-3. RIC dropped the opener to Marymount, 67-46, on Jan. 2 and fell in the consolation game to Plattsburgh State, 71-62.

 

Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) has played in ten games, starting all of them. She is averaging a team-high 16.4 points, 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals along with 1.8 rebounds per game. Angell scored a game-high 22 points with five boards, two assists and two steals in the loss to Marymount. For her efforts, she was named to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Honor Roll for the third time this season.

 

Sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) has played in ten games, starting nine of them. She is averaging 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Geisler recorded her fourth double-double of the season, recording 11 points and ten rebounds in RICís, 62-71, loss to Plattsburgh State. Geisler has been named Little East Conference Player of the Week and to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Weekly Honor Roll once this season, respectively.

 

Sophomore forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) has played in ten games, starting nine of them. She is averaging 7.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.

 

Senior guard Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) has played in nine games, starting two of them. She is averaging 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in nine games, starting six of them. She is averaging 8.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.

 

Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) has played in ten games, starting six of them. She is averaging 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) has played in ten games, starting three of them. She is averaging 2.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.1 assists per game.

 

Freshman forward Jessica Shiel (Warwick, RI) has played in seven games. She is averaging 1.4 points per game.

 

Freshman forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in seven games. She is averaging 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

 

The Anchorwomen will play at Wesleyan on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to The Murray Center to face LEC rival UMass-Boston on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m.
