Rhode Island College Menís Basketball Update #5

(7-4 Overall, 2-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Jack Perriís team is 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchormen have won four of their last five contests, and went 1-1 in action last week. RIC dropped a, 78-73, decision to non-conference foe Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The Anchormen then went on to defeat Little East opponent UMass-Boston, 95-87, on Thursday Jan. 8. RIC has won ten of its last 11 home games.

 

Sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Williams dished out a game-high seven assists and added ten points and six rebounds in RICís, 95-87, win over UMass-Boston. He has been named to the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Senior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 13.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He contributed 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in the Anchormenís, 95-87, win over UMass-Boston.

 

Sophomore guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He notched 14 points, four assists and a season-high eight rebounds in RICís, 78-73, loss to Bridgewater State. Durgin also added 15 points and five rebounds in the Anchormenís, 95-87, victory over UMass-Boston. For his efforts last week, Durgin was named to the Little East Conference Men's Basketball Honor Roll.

 

Senior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 10.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He notched 12 rebounds in both games last week, and recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds in RICís, 95-87, win over UMass-Boston. Harris notched his 550th career rebound in the win over UMB. Harris has been named to the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Sophomore forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) has played in 11 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and a team-high 1.1 blocks per game. Weir had 14 points, tying a career-high, in RICís win over UMass-Boston.

 

Freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) has played in 11 games. He is averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Yarbrough had a breakout game in RICís win over UMass-Boston, notching a career-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and tied a career-high with four assists. Yarbrough earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance last week. He has been named to the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Junior guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 11 games. He is averaging 5.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

 

Junior guard Jared Starnino (Providence, RI) has played in nine games. He is averaging 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore guard Amde Tegbaru (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in five games. He is averaging 0.8 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Anthony Pierlioni (Plainville, CT) has played in ten games. He is averaging 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Kofoworola Edmonds (Providence, RI) has played in nine games. He is averaging 2.9 points and 1.0 assists per game.

 

Freshman guard Benjy Nichols (New Haven, CT) has played in ten games. He is averaging 2.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Brendan Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) has played in three games. He is averaging 0.3 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Justin Lopez (New Haven, CT) has played in one game.

 

Freshman guard Ondinis Almanzar (New York, NY) has played in two games. He is averaging 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play three games this week. RIC will host LEC opponent Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The Anchormen will then play M.I.T. at The Murray Center on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. before traveling to LEC foe Keene State on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m.
