Rhode Island College Menís Basketball Update #6

(10-4 Overall, 4-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Jack Perriís team is 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the Little East Conference. RIC is tied with Plymouth State for first place in the LEC. The Anchormen won all three of their games last week and are currently riding a four-game winning streak, their longest of the season. RIC defeated Southern Maine on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 70-58. The Anchormen then picked up a win over non-conference foe M.I.T., 62-42, on Thursday, Jan. 13, before defeating LEC opponent Keene State, 91-84, on Saturday, Jan. 15.

 

Sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He is averaging a team-high 16.9 points, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals, along with 4.1 rebounds, per game. Williams dropped a team-high 27 points in RICís victory over Keene State.

 

Senior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 13.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Daley notched a team-high 19 points in RICís victory over M.I.T.

 

Sophomore guard Kinsey Durgin (Greenwood, ME) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He added a game-high 18 points in the Anchormenís win over Southern Maine.

 

Senior forward Jason Harris (Bedford, MA) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 10.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. He notched his fifth double-double of the season in RICís victory over M.I.T., contributing 11 points and ten rebounds. Harris has been named to the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Sophomore forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) has played in 14 games, starting all of them. He is averaging 6.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and a team-high 1.3 blocks per game.

 

Freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) has played in 14 games. He is averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Yarbrough tied a career-high, dropping 20 points in RICís victory over Keene State. For his efforts, he was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. He has been named to the Little East Conference Menís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Junior guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI) has played in 14 games. He is averaging 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

 

Junior guard Jared Starnino (Providence, RI) has played in 12 games. He is averaging 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He grabbed a season-high seven rebounds in the victory over Keene State.

 

Sophomore guard Amde Tegbaru (Stockholm, Sweden) has played in seven games. He is averaging 0.6 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.

 

Sophomore forward Anthony Pierlioni (Plainville, CT) has played in 13 games. He is averaging 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Benjy Nichols (New Haven, CT) has played in 13 games. He is averaging 2.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Brendan Mullen (Fairhaven, MA) has played in six games. He is averaging 0.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Justin Lopez (New Haven, CT) has played in two games.

 

Freshman guard Ondinis Almanzar (New York, NY) has played in three games. He is averaging 1.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will play two LEC games at home this week. RIC will host UMass-Dartmouth on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Anchormen will then host Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m.
