NIX’S 22 LEADS RIC PAST UMD

            Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior guard Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Anchorwomen past UMass Dartmouth, 62-57, in collegiate women’s basketball action. RIC has won its last three games and improved its overall record to 7-9. The Anchorwomen evened their mark in the Little East Conference at 3-3 as well.

 

In addition to Nix, sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) notched her seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and ten rebounds. Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) grabbed ten rebounds and chipped in with five points, two assists and a steal. Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) had six points, three rebounds, four assists and a steal.

 

UMD falls to 8-7 overall and 1-5 in the LEC. Freshman forward Lisa Satkevich (Quincy, MA) scored 19 points in a losing effort. Senior forward Maura Armstrong (Worcester, MA) had eight points, 11 boards, two blocks and three steals.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.
