Women’s Basketball Update #8

(7-10 Overall, 3-4 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team is 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen went 1-1 last week. RIC defeated LEC foe UMass-Dartmouth, 62-57, in their first game of the week on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The Anchorwomen then dropped a, 65-58, decision to LEC opponent Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 22.

 

Freshman forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) has played in seven games, starting one of them. She is averaging 9.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) has played in 17 games, starting 15 of them. She is averaging a team-high 13.6 points and 3.6 assists along with 1.8 steals and 1.6 rebounds per game. She has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Honor Roll three times this season.

 

Sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) has played in 17 games, starting 15 of them. She is averaging 11.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Geisler recorded her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and pulling down 14 rebounds in RIC’s win over UMass-Dartmouth. She has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week twice this season. Geisler has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll twice this season.

 

Sophomore forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) has played in 17 games, starting 15 of them. She is averaging 7.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

 

Senior guard Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) has played in 16 games, starting three of them. She is averaging 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 16 games, starting 11 of them. She is averaging 7.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and a team-high 2.6 steals per game. Nix recorded a career-high 22 points in RIC’s win over UMass Dartmouth.

 

Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) has played in 17 games, starting 11 of them. Danieli grabbed a career-high ten rebounds in the Anchorwomen’s win over UMass-Dartmouth. She is averaging 6.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) has played in 17 games, starting four of them. She is averaging 2.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game.

 

Freshman forward Jessica Shiel (Warwick, RI) has played in 13 games. She is averaging 1.9 points per game.

 

Freshman forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in 12 games. She is averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will play two LEC games this week. RIC will travel to Western Connecticut on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. The Anchorwomen will then host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m.
