ANCHORMEN BLOW OUT MITCHELL, 89-47

            Providence, RIóRhode Island College throttled Mitchell College, 89-47, to improve to 13-6 on the season. The 42-point win was the largest margin of victory for RIC this season, which had every player on the 14-man roster register at least one point. All but one player grabbed a rebound.

 

Junior guard Kevin Payette (Woonsocket, RI) was one of five Anchormen who reached double figures in scoring with a team-high 13 points. Payette also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and made two steals. Freshman guard Ondinis Almanzar (New York, NY) scored a career-high 12 points and had a game-high three steals off the bench. Freshman guard Davon Yarbrough (New Haven, CT) also had 12 points, while senior guard Andre Daley (Boston, MA) and sophomore forward John Weir (Danbury, CT) each had ten points.

 

Mitchell was outplayed in the final ten minutes of the first half, as well as the entire second session. Junior guard David Andrade (Brockton, MA) posted a game-high 15 points in the rout.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at UMass Boston on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m.
