ANGELL DOWNS COLONIALS, 71-61

            Providence, RI—Junior guard Jamie Angell’s (Cranston, RI) 25 points helped lead Rhode Island College past Western Connecticut State University, 71-61, in a battle of Little East Conference rivals. Angell also contributed four rebounds, four assists and a steal to pace the Anchorwomen’s attack.

 

RIC improves to 10-14 overall and 6-7 in the Little East with the win. WCSU falls to 11-13 overall and 4-9 in the LEC. In addition to Angell’s effort, sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) posted her eighth double-double of the season with ten points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Junior guard Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) had 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist in the win.

 

Colonial sophomore forward Mallory Stevens (Seymour, CT) had 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will close out the regular season at home against Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
