KEENE DEFEATS RIC, 65-54

            Providence, RI—Keene State College defeated Rhode Island College, 65-54, in collegiate women’s basketball action. The Owls improve to 15-10 overall and 9-5 in the Little East Conference. RIC closes out the regular season with a 10-15 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the LEC.

 

KSC sophomore forward Sarah Begnoche (Millville, MA) had 17 points, seven rebounds, three steals and an assist to lead the Owls to victory. Sophomore guard Bri Barnes (Merrimack, NH) had 15 points, including three, three-point baskets, seven rebounds and two assists. Junior guard Bekka Hopkins (Oxford, MA) also had ten points, five boards, four assists and a block.

 

RIC junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) scored a game-high 23 points, to go along with a seven-rebound, four-assist effort. Junior guard Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) scored 13 points in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC is the fourth seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Anchorwomen will host fifth-seeded UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
