Women’s Basketball Update #12

(10-15 Overall, 6-8 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team closed out the 2004-05 regular season with a 10-15 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen went 1-1 last week in two Little East Conference home games. RIC defeated Western Connecticut, 71-61, in its first game of the week, on Tuesday, Feb. 15. The Anchorwomen then dropped a, 65-54, decision to Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 19. RIC has earned the fourth seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Anchorwomen will host fifth-seeded UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at The Murray Center.

 

Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) has played in 25 games, starting 20 of them. She is averaging a team-high 14.6 points and 3.6 assists along with 1.5 steals and 2.1 rebounds per game. Angell dropped in 25 and 23 points, respectively, against Western Connecticut and Keene State last week. She has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Honor Roll three times this season.

 

Sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) has played in 25 games, starting 22 of them. She is averaging 10.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. She has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week twice this season. Geisler has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll four times this season.

 

Freshman forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) has played in 15 games, starting four of them. She is averaging 7.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. She has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Sophomore forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) has played in 25 games, starting 21 of them. She is averaging 7.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Rosen has been named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll once this season.

 

Senior guard Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) has played in 24 games, starting four of them. She is averaging 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) has played in 24 games, starting 18 of them. She is averaging 8.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and a team-high 2.5 steals per game. Nix averaged 16 points in two games last week.

 

Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) has played in 25 games, starting 20 of them. She is averaging 6.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) has played in 25 games, starting seven of them. She is averaging 2.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game.

 

Freshman forward Jessica Shiel (Warwick, RI) has played in 17 games, starting two of them. She is averaging 1.7 points per game.

 

Freshman forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) has played in 20 games, starting two of them. She is averaging 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. She has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Freshman guard Marissa VanHaverbeke (Barrington, RI) has played in seven games.
