Womenís Basketball Update #13

(11-16 Overall, 6-8 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Spencer Manningís team closed out the 2004-05 regular season with an 11-16 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen went 1-1 last week in two Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Tournament games. Fourth-seeded RIC hosted fifth-seeded UMass Dartmouth in first round action on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and defeated the Corsairs, 75-63. The Anchorwomen then traveled to Southern Maine to face top-seeded and nationally ranked Huskies in the semi-finals, and were eliminated from the LEC Tourney with an, 81-47, defeat.

 

Junior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) played in 27 games, starting 21 of them. She averaged a team-high 14.5 points and 3.5 assists along with 1.4 steals and 2.2 rebounds per game. Angell dropped in a game-high 23 points in RICís first-round LEC Tourney win against UMass Dartmouth. She was named to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Honor Roll three times this season.

 

Sophomore forward Kari Geisler (Derry, NH) played in 27 games, starting 24 of them. She is averaged 10.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. She pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds and dropped in nine points in RICís first-round LEC Tourney win over UMass Dartmouth.  She was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Player of the Week twice this season. Geisler was named to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Weekly Honor Roll four times this season.

 

Freshman forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) played in 17 games, starting four of them. She is averaged 7.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. She was named the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Rookie of the Week once this season.

 

Sophomore forward Brittany Rosen (Derry, NH) played in 27 games, starting 23 of them. She averaged 7.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Rosen was named to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Weekly Honor Roll once this season.

 

Senior guard Alyson St. Amand (West Warwick, RI) played in 26 games, starting five of them. She averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

 

Junior forward Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) played in 26 games, starting 20 of them. She averaged 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and a team-high 2.5 steals per game.

 

Freshman forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) played in 27 games, starting 22 of them. She averaged 6.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

 

Freshman guard Sarah Coughlin (North Attleboro, MA) played in 27 games, starting seven of them. She averaged 1.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.6 assists per game.

 

Freshman forward Jessica Shiel (Warwick, RI) played in 19 games, starting two of them. She averaged 1.8 points per game.

 

Freshman forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) played in 21 games, starting two of them. She averaged 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. She was named to the Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Honor Roll once this season.

 

Freshman guard Marissa VanHaverbeke (Barrington, RI) played in nine games.
