KYLE TEIXEIRA BREAKS ALL-TIME
RIC CAREER POINTS RECORD
IN, 3-1, WIN

Cambridge, MA—Rhode Island College senior forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren, RI) broke the school’s all-time career points record with a two-goal, five-point effort in the Anchormen’s, 3-1, win over M.I.T. on Saturday afternoon.

Teixeira came into today’s action trailing Domenico Petrarca’s ’77 all-time career point total of 147 by two. He opened the game’s scoring in the 13th minute, scoring off of a rebound, tying Petrarca’s all-time mark in the process. Teixeira took sole place of the all-time lead with an assist on sophomore Julian Montoya’s (North Providence, RI) goal in the 29th minute. Teixeira added an insurance goal in the 84th minute, giving the Anchormen a 3-0 lead. Petrarca’s record had stood for 29 years (1976).

M.I.T. finally got on the board in the 88th minute when Neil Zimmerman scored. RIC sophomore goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI) made two saves to earn the win. M.I.T. goalkeeper Thomas Caldwell made six stops.

Teixeira has three goals and two assists for eight points this season. He leads RIC in each of those statistical categories. For his career, Teixeira has 66 career goals, 18 career assists and 150 career points. He broke RIC’s and Petrarca’s all-time career goals record last season. He is first all-time at RIC in career goals and points, and is sixth in career assists.

In upcoming action, RIC will play at Bowdoin on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m.
