WESTERN CONNECTICUT WINS MARATHON OVER

RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE, 3-2 IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

 

 

Danbury, Conn.- Western Connecticut State University prevailed over Rhode Island College, 3-2, 30-22, 22-30, 31-29, 27-30, 21-19 in a marathon thriller at The O’Neill Center Wednesday night.

            The Colonials improve to 5-6 overall and even their record a 2-2 in the Little East Conference. 

            The Anchorwomen are now 9-9 overall and 2-2 in league play.

            Sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Phoenix (Creeskill, NJ) led the Colonials offense with 15 kills, 25 defensive digs and three blocks.

            Stefanie Weise (New Fairfield, Conn.) had an outstanding match, recording 31 sets, eight kills, 27 digs and one service ace. 

            Krystal Wilson (Meriden, Conn.) continued her outstanding defensive play with 38 digs, two aces to go along with three set assists.

            WestConn travels to the SUNY Cortland Tournament this weekend in upstate New York
