RWU AND RIC BATTLE TO SCORELESS TIE

Providence, RIóRhode Island College and Roger Williams University battled to a scoreless, 0-0, tie in collegiate menís soccer action on Thursday afternoon. It was a hard-fought, physical contest in which the Anchormen outshot the Hawks, 16-5, but neither team was able to convert.

 

RIC sophomore goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI) went the full 110 minutes in net, making one save to earn his second shutout of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Viola (Mattituck, NY) played the first half for RWU, making two saves. Junior Kevin Deegan (Seymour, CT) came on in the second half and finished the game with three saves.

 

RIC freshman midfielder Tyrell Burgess (Smiths, Bermuda) led all players with five shots. Sophomore midfielder Evan Solis (Seymour, CT) led RWU with two shots.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will host UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. RWU will play at the University of New England on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
