Providence, RI--Head Coach Ryan Angel’s team is 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen are currently in third place in the Little East Conference.

Anchorwomen Notables

RIC’s 8-2 record is the best ten-game start to a season since the 1999 squad also went 8-2 in their first ten contests. The Anchorwomen are riding a season-best five-game winning streak.

The Anchorwomen defeated Framingham State, 6-1, in non-conference action last week on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Sophomore forwards Ashley Teixeira (Warren, RI) and Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville, RI) each scored twice, while junior forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) and sophomore forward Gina Calenda (Warren, MA) also added goals. Sophomore midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) had two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT) made four saves.

RIC earned its second Little East Conference victory of the season with a 1-0 overtime win at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1. Haaland scored the “golden goal” a mere 45 second into the extra session to lift RIC to victory. Pyzynski made 14 saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. For her efforts in both games, Pyzynski was named the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.

MacKinnon, Haaland and Cardinal have two game-winning goals apiece. Haaland moved into seventh in career points at RIC (17-2-36). She is tied for fourth in career goals.
