VIKINGS RUN ASHORE BY ANCHORWOMEN

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College decisively defeated Salem State, 3-0, in collegiate women’s volleyball action. The Anchorwomen, who have won their last three matches, improve their record to 19-12, while the Vikings fall to 3-15 on the season. RIC needs one win to reach the 20-win plateau for the first time in 16 years (1989).

 

RIC sophomore right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) posted a match-high 13 kills. Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) had seven kills, three service aces and six digs. Junior defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) logged a match-high five service aces and ten digs. The setter tandem of sophomores Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) and Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) combined for 38 assists with 20 and 18, respectively.

 

SSC senior middle hitter Estrella Kuilan (Lowell, MA) had 11 kills, three service aces and five digs in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will take part in a Little East Round Robin, hosted by Eastern Connecticut, on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Anchorwomen will face Southern Maine and Plymouth State.
