RYCZEK NETS GAME-WINNER IN 94th MINUTE

Providence, RI—Eastern Connecticut freshman midfielder Meghan Ryczek (East Haddam, CT) scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute to give the Warriors a 1-0 overtime win at Rhode Island College. Senior forward Jenn Orme (Centerreach, NY) broke in on the left side of RIC freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT) and fired a shot that trickled under the netminder and went to the far post. Ryczek came in, went to a slide and put the ball past a diving Pyzynski for her first collegiate goal.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through 90 minutes. ECSU senior goalkeeper Allison Sumecki (Northford, CT) made three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Her record is now 9-4-2 on the season. Pyzynski made eight saves as her record dips to 10-6.

In upcoming action, RIC will host Western Connecticut in the regular season finale tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. The Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament begins on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
