Three RIC Players Earn All-Little East Conference Honors in Womenís Volleyball
Nix and Miga Garner First Team Honors

 

Providence, RIóThree members of the Rhode Island College womenís volleyball team have been named All-Little East Conference.

 

Senior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) was named First Team All-Little East Conference. She played in 125 games in 36 matches. She totaled 478 kills (3.82/game), a .237 hitting percentage, 30 service aces (0.24/game), 397 digs (3.18/game) and 67 blocks (0.54/game) on the season. Her 478 kills this fall are a new RIC record for a single season. Her 1,032 career kills are the most in school history. Nix earned Second Team All-Little East Conference honors as a junior in 2004.

 

Junior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) was named First Team All-Little East Conference for the second consecutive season. She played in 126 games in 36 matches. She totaled 383 kills (3.04/game), a .328 hitting percentage, 62 service aces (.49/game), 69 digs (0.55/game) and 180 blocks (1.43/game) on the season. She is RICís all-time leader with 432 career blocks. She is second with 986 career kills, trailing Nixís all-time mark by 46 with one season left to play.

 

Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. Wojciechowski played in 126 games in 36 matches. She totaled 56 kills (0.44/game), 49 service aces (0.39/game) and 497 digs (3.94/game) on the season. She is RICís all-time leader with 1,125 career digs and her 497 digs this fall is a new RIC record for a single season.

 

Head Coach Craig Letourneauís team ended the 2005 season with a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Eastern Connecticut in the semi-finals of the Little East Conference Womenís Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 4. The Anchorwomen posted a 22-14 record and were 4-3 (fourth place) in the Little East. The Anchorwomenís 22 wins are the most in a season since the 1986 squad also won 22 and are tied for the third-most wins in a season in school history.
