2006 Spring Menís Golf Season Summary
6-1 Overall Record

 

Providence, RI--Head Coach John Fittaís team finished the spring 2006 campaign with a 6-1 overall record, which was the most wins in a season in the programís seven-year history. The squad was 4-7 in the fall season for a combined record of 10-8 on the year.

 

Senior Tim Poblocki (Thompson, CT) competed in golf for the Anchormen for the first time this spring. He saw action in one match this season, firing a score of 90 in the wins over Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Wesleyan on Apr. 13.

 

He is a justice studies major and a 2002 graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School. He played two seasons of menís soccer for RIC in 2002 and 2003.

 

Junior Scott Baris (Lincoln, RI) saw action in four matches this spring. He averaged a score of 82.8 for the season. Baris shared medallist honors with a season-best score of 81 in the win over Johnson & Wales on Apr. 21.

 

Junior Tim Carpentier (Smithfield, RI) competed in two matches this spring. He averaged a score of 89.0. He shot a season-low score of 85 in the wins over Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Wesleyan on Apr. 13.

 

Junior Sean DeSilva (West Warwick, RI) competed in three matches this spring. He averaged a score of 83.7. He fired a season-low score of 81 twice, first in the win over Newbury on Apr. 19 and then again at the Blazer Invitational on Apr. 28.

 

Junior Shawn Rebocho (Albion, RI) competed in all five of the teamís matches this spring. He averaged a score of 79.8, which was the second-best mark on the team. Rebocho was the medallist twice this season, sharing the honor with a score of 80 in the quad-meet with Worcester State, Becker and Brandeis on Apr. 10, and then firing a season-low score of 77 in the wins over Mass. College of Liberal Arts and Wesleyan on Apr. 13.

 

Sophomore Derrick Garforth (Tiverton, RI) saw action in four meets this season. He averaged a score of 94.0. He shot a season-best score of 90 at the Blazer Invitational on Apr. 28.

 

Freshman Lionel Noel (West Warwick, RI) was named the teamís MVP. He saw action in each of the clubís five matches this spring. He averaged a team-low score of 78.2. Noel was the medallist three times this season, sharing the honor with a score of 80 in the quad-meet with Worcester State, Becker and Brandeis on Apr. 10, and then with a season-low score of 76 in the win at Newbury on Apr. 19 and sharing the honor with a score of 81 in the win over Johnson & Wales on Apr. 21.

 

Freshman Robert Tassoni (Greenville, RI) saw action in one match this season, firing a score of 81 in the win at Newbury on Apr. 19.
