WESLEYAN WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT IN, 60-50, VICTORY
Feeney’s Double-Double is Not Enough in Anchorwomen Loss

Providence, RI—Wesleyan University won its fifth straight game with a 60-50 win over Rhode Island College in collegiate women’s basketball action. The Cardinals improve to 7-3 overall, while the loss drops the Anchorwomen to 6-4 on the season.

RIC sophomore forward Colleen Feeney (Providence, RI) posted her third double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in a losing effort. Sophomore forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) had ten points, two boards and two assists off the bench.

The Anchorwomen, who trailed the entire game and, despite cutting the Cardinals’ lead to two in the first half, and six in the second half, were unable to get any closer down the stretch.

Wesleyan was led by senior forward Hannah Stubbs (Arlington, VA) who posted a double-double of her own with ten points and 14 rebounds. Senior forward Ashley Mastrangelo (Marblehead, MA) had 11 points and five boards, while freshman guard Ali Fourney (East Northport, NY) contributed ten points, four boards, three assists and two blocks.

Wesleyan has won all eight meetings between these two clubs. In upcoming action, RIC will host Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.
