Angellís 21 Stops Four-Game Losing Streak

            Providence, RIóRhode Island College stopped a four-game losing streak with a 69-50 win over Pine Manor in a non-conference matchup on Thursday evening. RIC opened the game with a 17-2 run through the first six minutes and led by as many as 34 in the victory. RIC improves to 7-6 overall, while the Gators fall to 5-6.

 

RIC senior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston, RI) scored a game-high 21 points on nine of 10 shooting. Angell also had four rebounds, two assists and one steal in just 15 minutes of action. Sophomore forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) had 14 points, six boards and five steals. Sophomore forward Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) registered season-highs with 12 points, six rebounds and four steals off the bench.

 

Pine Manor turned the ball over 27 times and shot just 29 percent (18-62) from the floor. Senior guard Natalie Ghazi (Glasgow, Scotland) led the Gators with 11 points and freshman forward Amanda Dennis (Haverhill, MA) grabbed 12 rebounds in a losing effort.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will play at LEC foe UMass Boston on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.
