Women’s Indoor Track & Field Update #2

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team has six meets under their belts this season. RIC competed at the Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28 and placed sixth (six teams) with a score of 40.0. Southern Maine won the meet with a team score of 216.0. The Anchorwomen competed at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4 and placed 14 (19 teams) with a team score of 8.0. Tufts won the meet with a team score of 157.0.

Anchorwomen Notables

• Senior Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) placed fourth in the 200 meters and sixth in the 55 meters with times of 27.21 and 7.52, respectively at the Tufts Invitational.

• Skorupa placed first in the finals of the 55 meters with a time of 7.54, as well as a first place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 27.11, at the Southern Maine Invitational. For her efforts, she was named the Little East Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. She also took home first place honors in the long jump with a 5.19-meter effort. Freshman Hannah Clark (North Attleboro, MA) placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:48.76. Freshman Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 11.91 meters.

CONFERENCE ACCOLADES: Skorupa has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week twice (1/17, 1/30) on the season.
