ANCHORWOMEN GO 1-1 AT COLBY INVITATIONAL

GORDON TAKES TITLE WITH 3-0 RECORD

Greene Named to All-Tourney Squad


WATERVILLE, Maine --- Gordon College was the only team to go 3-0 in winning the Colby College Volleyball Invitational on Saturday with wins over University of Maine at Machias and University of Southern Maine.


Gordon (4-3) won the inaugural Colby Invitational in 2002. Colby, which fell to the Fighting Scots in a match Friday night, had won the last three titles.


Colby, Rhode Island College, University of Maine at Farmington and
University of Maine at Presque Isle all had 2-1 records in the tourney.
Saturday's results: Colby 3, Rhode Island College 1 (23-30, 30-18, 30-25, 30-19); Maine-Farmington 3, Maine Maritime Academy 0 (30-26, 30-28, 30-27); Gordon 3, Maine-Machias 0 (30-11, 30-9, 30-12); Maine-Presque Isle 3, Southern Maine 1 (30-22, 16-30, 30-23, 30-16); Rhode Island College 3, Maine Maritime 0 (30-8, 30-24, 30-19); Maine-Presque Isle 3, Maine-Machias 0 (30-19, 30-26, 30-18); Colby 3, Maine-Farmington 0 (30-16, 30-17, 30-11); Gordon 3, Southern Maine 0 (30-7, 30-20, 30-16).

 

For the Anchorwomen, Sharon Corriveau had 11 kills and 12 digs in RIC’s, 3-1, loss to Colby. Jeanne Rosa chipped in with 18 assists and nine digs. Erin Miga had nine kills and six blocks.

 

Brooke Bryant and eight kills and Madison Greene added five kills in the squad’s, 3-0, win over Maine Maritime.
