SECOND HALF RALLY FALLS SHORT AS RIC LOSES, 3-2
Chasonís Goal in the 69th Minute Lifts Jumbos Past Anchormen

Providence, RIóRhode Island College suffered its fourth loss in its past five contests as Tufts senior forward Mattia Chason (Rome, ITALY) scored in the 69th minute to snap a 2-2 deadlock and give the Jumbos the victory. Chason broke in from the right side and buried a junior forward Dan Jozwiak (Boulder, CO) touch pass to beat Rhode Island College junior goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI).

The Anchormen played a lackluster first half as goals by sophomore midfielder Peter DeGregorio (Whately, MA) and senior forward Ben Castellot (Newton, MA) in the 14th and 35th minute, respectively, put RIC behind the eight-ball.

An inspired Rhode Island College squad took the field in the second half and tied the game within nine minutes. Junior forward Jimmy Hernandez (Providence, RI) converted a brilliant pass from sophomore midfielder Derek Arsenault (Greenville, RI), in the 49th minute. Junior midfielder Julian Montoya (North Providence, RI) broke in just over five minutes later and was taken out on a hard slide tackle by Tufts freshman goalkeeper Pat Tonelli (Andover, MA). Tonelli was tabbed for the foul and Hernandez converted the ensuing penalty kick to tie the game.

The Anchormen outshot the Jumbos, 11-7, in the second half and, 17-16, for the game.

Neves, who made five saves, sees his record fall to 2-3 on the season. Tonelli also made five saves and raises his record to 3-4-1.
