ROSA BREAKS ALL-TIME RIC ASSIST RECORD
Anchorwomen Win, 3-2, Over LEC Rival UMass Dartmouth

North Dartmouth, MA—Rhode Island College junior setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) broke Kim Lebrun’s ’01 all-time school record for career assists in the Anchorwomen’s, 3-2, victory over UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday evening. Rosa needed just 15 helpers to break the mark, but totaled 25 assists in the five-game match. She now has 1,602 career assists through two-plus seasons of action.

Rosa’s achievement was a high point as Head Coach Craig Letourneau’s Anchorwomen struggled to get by the Corsairs, who remain winless in Little East action. RIC dropped game one, 30-26, before taking games two and three, 30-23 and 33-31, respectively. The Anchorwomen could not put away UMass Dartmouth in game four, falling, 30-23, before dominating the fifth and deciding game, 15-6, to earn the win.

Senior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI), along with junior right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) and junior outside hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI), posted double figures in kills with 12, 10 and 10, respectively. Junior setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) chipped in with 19 assists. Corriveau, senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) and senior defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) led the squad in digs with 20, 17 and 12, respectively. Miga and Heard led the team in blocks with six and five, respectively.

RIC has won five of its last six matches. The Anchorwomen are 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Corsairs are 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the LEC.

In upcoming action, RIC will face Clark and Eastern Nazarene at a tri-match, hosted by Clark, on Saturday, Oct. 7.
