ANCHORWOMEN DOWN LASERS, 3-2
Heard Logs Another Outstanding Match in RIC Victory

Newton, MA—Rhode Island College junior right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) paced the Anchorwomen's attack with a match-high 24 kills in a 3-2 win at Lasell College on Tuesday evening.

Heard, the reigning Little East Conference Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, posted only four hitting errors in 35 attempts in the win. RIC, which was without top hitter, senior Erin Miga (Cranston, RI), due to a hand injury, had freshman outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) step up and record 16 kills. The junior setter tandem of Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) and Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) registered 29 and 26 assists, respectively.

The Anchorwomen, who have played six five-game matches this season, were down two games to one after three frames. The club took game four, 30-25, and then the decisive game five, 15-6.

Corriveau, Rosa and senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) were stalwarts on defense with 17, 12 and 14 digs, respectively.

In upcoming action, RIC will host Endicott on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.
