HERNANDEZ’S TWO GOALS LEAD RIC TO VICTORY
Two Tallies Late in Game Help Anchormen Snap Hawks’
Six-Game Winning Streak

Bristol, RI—Rhode Island College junior forward Jimmy Hernandez (Providence, RI) scored in the 83rd and 86th minute to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the Anchormen past Roger Williams, 3-1, on Tuesday afternoon. The Anchormen, who have won six of their last seven games, ended the Hawk’s six-game winning streak.

The first ten minutes were marked by a flurry of activity, with Rhode Island College sophomore defender Josh Silva (Dartmouth, MA) drawing first blood in the 10th minute, heading in corner kick from freshman midfielder Brandon Migliore (Coventry, RI). Roger Williams’ Antoine Bell (Bordeaux, France) evened the score less than a minute later with a header set up by Dan Saccoccio (Holtsville, NY).

Rhode Island College sophomore Dan Rodrigues (Cumberland, RI) made his first collegiate state in net, making one save in 32 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Jadon Neves (Warren, RI) came on in relief, making one save and earned his eighth win (8-4). RWU’s Kevin Deegan (Seymour, CT) made five saves in the loss.

Rhode Island College improves 10-5, while the Hawks fall to 10-6-2.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut in the regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 28. It will be Senior Day for forward Chris Childs (Cranston, RI), midfielder Nic Rossi (North Kingstown, RI) and defender Nick Tavares (East Providence, RI) who will be honored prior to the game.
