Rhode Island College Hosts Annual Invitational
in Menís Track & Field Action

 

Providence, RIóRhode Island College hosted its annual menís track & field invitational on Saturday, Mar. 31. It was an individual meet with no team scoring.

 

Junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.76.

 

Senior Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed first in the 1,500 meters and second in the 800 meters with times of 4:02.19 and 1:59.00, respectively.

 

Senior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the 110 meter hurdles, high jump and the triple jump with a time of 16.68 and leaps of 1.88 and 11.99, respectively.

 

Freshman Max Willett (Portsmouth, RI) placed first in the long jump and second in the javelin with distances of 6.10 and 48.17 meters, respectively.

 

Senior Richard Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed first in the hammer with a throw of 48.14 meters.

 

Junior James Polak (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the hammer and third in the discus with distances of 38.76 and 35.85 meters, respectively.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Bryant University Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 7.
