ANCHORMEN FALL TO BRIDGEWATER STATE, 7-2

Providence, RIóThe Rhode Island College menís tennis team dropped a Little East Conference match to Bridgewater State, 7-2, on Friday afternoon. The Bears took five of six in singles action and two of three in doubles to improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the LEC. RIC falls to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in league action.

 

Rhode Island College sophomore David Haggerty (Woonsocket, RI) won at No. 6 singles, while senior Barry Manfredi (Westerly, RI) and junior Lorne Teeter (Warwick, RI) earned a decision at No. 2 singles.

 

The Bears were led by sophomore Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) who won at No. 1 singles and paired with senior Matt Kelly (Tiverton, RI) to win at No. 2 doubles.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at UMass Boston on Saturday, Apr. 21 at 1 p.m.

 

 

 Rhode Island College seniors Tauquir Puthawala and Barry Manfredi, along with their parents, were honored prior to the start of the match as part of Senior Day.
