Mike Naylor Named Little East Conference
Baseball Player of the Week

 

         Providence, RIóRhode Island College senior right fielder Mike Naylor (Warwick, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in six games last week.

 

Naylor helped lead the team to a 6-0 record, including a 4-0 mark in the LEC, as RIC ended the regular season with a 21-12 overall record. He batted .391 (9-for-23) with nine hits, eight runs scored, two doubles, two homers and seven RBI to go along with a .522 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base percentage. He became Rhode Island Collegeís all-time career hits leader, notching his 188th career knock in a 12-6 win over Plymouth State on Saturday, May 5. Naylor also tied the RIC record for career runs (131) in the same game.

 

For the season, he has played in 33 games, starting all of them. He is batting .385 (47-for-122) with 32 runs scored, 12 doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 37 RBI. He owns a .672 slugging percentage and a .476 on-base percentage.

 

Head Coach Jay Grenierís team is 21-12 overall and finished the regular season with an 8-6 record in the Little East Conference. Fourth-seeded Rhode Island College will face third-seeded Southern Maine on Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in opening round action of the 2007 Little East Conference Baseball Tournament, which is hosted by Eastern Connecticut.
